✦ Salo Guardian - Short Grey Kimono with Scorpion Embroidery

The story of Salo Guardian.

She stepped into the city, completely on her own, with nothing but her drive and the promise of a new job to accompany her. The pressure—endless and unrelenting—seemed to weigh heavier with each passing day. You could feel the struggle in her, not just in her battle with the crowded streets and their never-ending noise, but in the quiet war waging within her. The city, harsh and unyielding, was miles away from the peaceful corners she once called home.

Still, there was something steady about her. A quiet resilience, like the scorpion etched on her back—a mark of survival, of protection. It wasn’t just a symbol; it was her shield, ancient and fierce, standing between her and the crushing intensity of this new world. No matter how daunting the city felt, that scorpion reminded her of who she really was—someone designed to endure, to adapt, and to rise above it all.

The Salo Guardian short kimono blends minimalist aesthetics with deep cultural significance. Featuring a sleek and smooth gray polyester Peach Twill fabric, contrasted by off-white borders, its standout feature is the manually embroidered Buscalan batok scorpion symbol on the back. This symbol, historically tied to protection, resilience, and survival, is a key part of the kimono's identity. The name "Salo" means "to hold or catch" in Filipino, symbolizing how this kimono embraces and shields the wearer from the challenges of the outside world. Paired with "Guardian," it represents inner strength and self-reliance, perfect for someone facing life's battles with quiet resilience.

The used peach twill fabric is sourced ethically from deadstock fabric in Divisoria, Manila, giving this kimono a sustainable and ethical touch. The embroidery was done entirely by hand with a manual embroidery machine - nothing but pure craftsmanship.

Salo Guardian is 90cm long and each side is 40cm wide and the back 64cm wide.
