The Yugto Story

Yugto, meaning chapter or phase in Filipino, embodies the spirit of transformation and personal evolution. Our kimonos are inspired by the timeless elegance of the Japanese garment and infused with the personal stories of our designer, Rose. Rooted with the vibrant artistry of Filipino traditions, Yugto represents a unique fusion of cultures that celebrates both heritage and individuality. Each kimono is a tapestry of stories, ready to embark onto a new exciting chapter.

The fusion of cultures inadvertently began, as the Japanese Imperial Army landed on the shores, ushering in, yet another turbulent chapter to the already torn pages of the Filipino culture.

A gift from destiny?

An act of kindness

A kimono, gifted to a young girl to merely soothe her fright, evolved into a self-surpassing seed of passion, growing with her, far beyond this short-lived chapter.

Yugto

One day, the young girl, having long reaped the blossoms of her own story, gave one of them to her daughter Rose: a modern kimono, made to bring joy in her upcoming chapters of adulthood.

A little bit of

Magic

Rose lovingly nurtured their shared story, growing it into many new exciting chapters, branching out into the world, far beyond its Filipino roots. Her stories and her origins, always fused into the very fabric of the kimonos she made, transformed them into something truly magical.

The next

Chapter

Like her mother, Rose passed on her magic blossoms to characters throughout her story. Many experiencing their ingrained power, if they listened close enough. Amongst them was also her adult son, feeling its pull at the right moment — ready to plant the magic anew.

Back to the

Roots

Thus, in 2024, Yugto started to sprout once again — in the place where it all began. A tree full of stories, planted by destiny, nurtured by the people of Atimonan and watered by the Filipino culture is destined to be reaped, for all who hear its calling.

Because what is a story, if it isn't shared?
